(CNN) — A collision between a double-decker bus and a city bus in Manhattan on Thursday left dozens injured and at least 18 people requiring hospitalization for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the New York City Fire Department.First responders received notice of the crash on the borough’s east side shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday, said FDNY Deputy Chief Kevin Murphy.“The first two units arrived to find two buses involved in what appeared to be a serious accident, complicated by the fact that one of them was a double-decker bus,” Murphy said at a news conference at the scene.Ropes and ladders were used to assist passengers with getting off the buses, officials said.“Any time you have two buses involved you have a significant number of patients that likely need to be treated,” Murphy said. “So seeing that quantity of people right away, I think the units did a very good job getting them off the bus quickly and taken to the appropriate resources.”Eighteen patients we...Red Sox rally late to spoil Nathan Eovaldi’s Fenway return

Nathan Eovaldi is having a spectacular season. The former Red Sox right-hander has emerged as a Cy Young contender since joining the Texas Rangers, and while he wasn’t at his best Thursday night, he still walked off the mound with a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning, earning a polite applause from the Fenway Faithful as he exited. Then, with their former teammate out of the picture, the Red Sox offense feasted.Boston scored seven straight runs from the sixth inning onwards and delivered the knockout blow in the form of a six-run avalanche in the bottom of the seventh. Kiké Hernández came through with the go-ahead two-run single and from there Boston kept pouring it on in what wound up a decisive 10-6 win.The comeback began after Boston cut the deficit to 5-4 in the sixth on an RBI single by pinch hitter Rob Refsnyder to score Hernández, who reached on a fielder’s choice and an error on Eovaldi’s last batter faced. Then in the seventh Boston loaded the bases with one out ...Passenger fearing ‘powerful cartel’ made bomb threat on Seattle-bound flight, documents say

SEATTLE (AP) — A passenger aboard an Alaska Airlines flight from Atlanta to Seattle Wednesday is accused of making a bomb threat that caused pilots to land the plane in Spokane, Washington. Documents filed in U.S. District Court said Brandon Scott, 38, faces a false information and hoaxes charge, The Seattle Times reported. After the plane took off Wednesday afternoon, Scott handed a flight attendant a note saying he had “several pounds” of homemade explosives in his carry-on and a detonator on him, the court documents alleged.Scott’s note demanded the plane be rerouted to “any other airport” and threatened to kill everyone on the plane if it landed in Seattle. The note instructed the flight attendant to alert the pilot and air traffic controllers but keep the threat from others aboard the plane, the documents said. The note said he would surrender “peacefully” upon arrival at the rerouted destination, according to the court filing.Upon arrival in Spokane, Scott was detained but a se...Double-decker bus collision with second bus in Manhattan sends 18 people to hospitals
