There also were Girl Scouts showing off their ingenuity around downtown’s famed Purple Museum, and more than 350 grown-ups having fun like they were kids again. The occasion was CDM’s Keep on Playing gala, where Sylvia Acevedo — a rocket scientist, tech entrepreneur and former CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA — was honored with the Legacy for Children Award. When people took to protesting outside of the homes of Supreme Court justices following the leak of the draft decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, hundreds of federal agents were quietly watching, both in real life and online, for “concerning communications.” Now the Court has sought to enshrine the new praetorian guard indefinitely, according to documents reviewed by The Intercept. The Supreme Court sought millions for security last year, enlisting the U.S. Marshals to provide personal details for the justices. A year later, that security force hasn’t seen a significant increase in threats or attacks, according to documents reviewed by The Intercept, but the Supreme Court is asking to continue — and in some cases, even augment — the high level of security.Last summer, hundreds gathered outside the homes of the conservative justices to protest the Dobbs decision, which effectively eliminated reproductive rights for millions. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — In a different year, this NHL draft might have been considered the chase for Adam Fantilli as the top pick rather than the Connor Bedard sweepstakes. Fantilli’s got the size at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, and a proven ability to put the puck in the net. The pandemic led the Canadian to the U.S., where he became only the third freshman to win college hockey’s Hobey Baker player of the year award joining Jack Eichel (2015) and Hall of Famer Paul Kariya (1993). Whatever twists of fate might have Fantilli headed to Anaheim with the No. 2 pick overall or Columbus at No. 3 instead of Chicago with the first selection Wednesday night, the center insists he has no regrets about what might have been. “You can’t really play another game now,” Fantilli said Tuesday. “You can’t score another goal now. So obviously Connor’s season was phenomenal, and everything he’s done up until that point has been great. So I just want to sit back and enjoy it as muc...Latest news
