Town of Poughkeepsie hosts Annual Spring Fest POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Town of Poughkeepsie Recreation Department and Vassar College have partnered to present Spring Fest 2023. The annual event will be held on April 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 124 Raymond Avenue. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Activities throughout the day include an egg hunt with prizes (for the first 350 children), a visit from the Easter Bunny, a visit from The Two by Two Petting Zoo, and more! There will be food available and live music by the Harvest Duo Band.Admission is free. The Town asks those who can to bring a non-perishable item to benefit the local food pantry. In case or rain, the event will be moved to April 16.

(NEWS10) -- On April 15, 2023, New York State will hold its 20th annual “Missing Persons Day,” ceremony where families come together to remember missing persons in their life. The event is spearheaded by Mary Lyall, whose daughter Suzanne disappeared 25 years ago. In 2001, Mary and her family established the Center for Hope, which leads national efforts to find missing persons and advocate for preventative laws, including Suzanne’s Law in 2003. LOUIS - One day after a mass shooting left five dead and several others injured in Louisville, Kentucky, important mass casualty training took place Tuesday morning in St. Louis.The Washington University Emergency Medical Department hosted the training, which took place at the Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park. The scenes may have been staged, but the knowledge that the participants gained is very real.The training went for a couple of hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.There were three simulated mass casualty incidents from explosions - one had adult victims only, one incorporated children as victims, and a third was staged as a music festival or a rave where there could be hundreds or even thousands of people including some victims who may be drunk or on drugs. Man charged in weekend shooting at Frontenac parking garage FRONTENAC, Mo. - A man is behind bars on felony charges after a weekend shooting in a Frontenac parking garage. Prosecutors have charged Maurion Rich, 33, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in the investigation. The victim drove himself to a hospital and was later released after treatment. No one else was hurt in the shooting. Police have not yet disclosed a potential motive or whether the victim was known to the suspect. Rich is jailed in St. Louis County on a $250,000 bond, according to Missouri court records.
