COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Justin Herbert doesn’t think the broken middle finger on his left, non-throwing hand will affect him when the Los Angeles Chargers face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.Nonetheless, Herbert and the team are being cautious with the injury.Herbert wore a glove on his left hand during Thursday’s practice. He said he assumes he will wear it during the game. When asked if the glove would protect the finger or help him grip the ball, Herbert said it was “probably a little bit of both. To cover it up, to have a grip. I think that does help on the off-hand.”Herbert suffered the injury late in the third quarter of the Oct. 1 game against Las Vegas when his finger got caught in the helmet of Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.Herbert wore a splint on the hand during the fourth quarter. He completed two of his three pass attempts in the final 15 minutes, including one for 51 yards up the sideline to Joshua Palmer to seal a 24-17 victory. In an effort to pro...Lionel Messi plays as substitute in Argentina’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Paraguay

The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers have different reasons to be happy they get extra time to prepare for each other.Monday night’s game gives the Cowboys (3-2) an extra day to deal with the shock of their 42-10 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday. The Chargers (2-2) are coming off their bye week and will have some key starters back. Quarterback Justin Herbert is dealing with a fractured middle finger on his left non-throwing hand that is not expected to keep him from playing. While Dallas’ 28-16 loss at Arizona on Sept. 24 was surprising, the defeat at San Francisco hit the Cowboys differently.“When we lost to Arizona, I wish we could have played Thursday. Wish we could have played Monday, the next day,” defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said. “In this case, I think it’s probably better to have one more (day). I think each time is a little different. I’ll be honest. I’m glad it isn’t a bye. And we get ready to go.”One positive for the Cowboys: They a...Prince George’s Co. Council tables move that would have raised tipped minimum wage

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Growing pains were expected from the Los Angeles Rams’ significantly overhauled pass rush. After the Rams totaled eight sacks through their first five games, which puts them 28th in the NFL, defensive lineman Aaron Donald said he hopes the group is close to turning potential into more production.“I think guys play hard,” Donald said Thursday. “We play with a lot of effort, so we gotta continue to do that. But as a front, as a pass-rush unit, we gotta do a little bit better getting after the quarterback, winning our one-on-ones, a little bit more technique in pass-rush situations.”Those sorts of issues rarely popped up when Donald was flanked by established players such as A’Shawn Robinson in the middle and Leonard Floyd on the edge. But a salary-cap crunch forced the Rams (2-3) to turn to unheralded former backups such as defensive lineman Bobby Brown III and rookies like outside linebacker Byron Young and defensive tackle Kobie Turner this season.T...UFC creates its own drug-testing program in wake of split with USADA over McGregor
