Mosquitos in Pittsfield test positive for West Nile Virus

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has confirmed two results of West Nile Virus from weekly samples of mosquitoes collected in Pittsfield. The positive samples were taken from the Pittsfield Cemetery and the Pittsfield Airport. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Pittsfield continues to have a moderate West Nile Virus risk level. This indicates that infection with WNV is likely or potentially has occurred in humans, though no human cases of WNV have been confirmed at this time, according to the Department of Health. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A new list of top tourist traps features two attractions in Kansas and Missouri. A study published by USA Today Blueprint, which analyzed 23.2 million Google reviews of popular destinations, found the Titanic Museum in Branson, Missouri, and the Oz Museum in Wamego, Kansas, are among the top 100 tourist traps in the world. ‘World’s biggest bounce house’ returning to Kansas City area this fall The Titanic Museum came in at no. 33 on the tourist trap list, while the Oz Museum landed at no. 80. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is looking for a shooter who killed a man Friday morning and then fled the scene in Cudahy in a black sedan.The victim, only identified as a man, was killed at about 5 a.m. in the 5000 block of Clara Street, the LASD said in a news release. Though officials did not provide the exact address, investigators appeared to be focusing on a Circle K convenience store and gas station in the area.Deputies found the man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and he was declared dead at the scene, officials said. A would-be smash-and-grab suspect who got more than he bargained for when he attempted to rob a family-owned jewelry store in the San Gabriel Valley last week, has been identified, authorities announced on Thursday. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect, now identified as 36-year-old Joshua Lee Simmons, as he was walking down Main Street in El Monte on Sept. 2 dressed in all black with a face mask and a cardboard box in hand. As the 36-year-old approaches Meza’s Jewelry store, he’s seen spraying bear repellent in the face of a 70-year-old man, one of the store’s owners, who was sitting just outside the shop. Two-Car Crash on Adams Avenue Left Agustina Cano-De Arambula DeadFRESNO, CA (September 8, 2023) – Wednesday evening, a two-vehicle crash on Manning Avenue left Agustina Cano-De Arambula dead and two individuals hospitalized.Officers responded to the fatal collision on August 23rd at around 9:20 p.m. along Manning Avenue and Adams Avenue.According to reports, a 32-year-old man driving a Freightliner truck, that was transporting grapes from a neighboring vineyard, when he took a left turn out of a field onto Manning Avenue.
