Gophers putting bigger emphasis on pass rush in spring practices

The Gophers football program is altering its practice format this spring to build in more work on pass-rush situations.Last season, Minnesota was 111th in the nation with only 19 sacks in 13 games.“We know that we have to get better at that; we know that is one of our deficiencies, and it has been for a while,” head coach P.J. Fleck said Tuesday. “But we’ve got some really good pass rushers now and I feel like now we can really develop them.”The Gophers return six of their top seven players in total pressures from 2022: Jah Joyner (32), Jalen Logan-Redding (16), Kyler Baugh (13), Trill Carter (12), Danny Striggow (11) and Cody Lindenberg (9). HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WXIN) — An Indiana deputy and his K-9 partner were credited with finding a 12-year-old who briefly went missing overnight Sunday. The child left their Noblesville home around 3 a.m. while it was around 16 degrees outside, according to the sheriff's office. Deputy Neal Hoard and K-9 Maudie began tracking the child's scent around 4:30 a.m. Maudie followed the scent for a little more than three-quarters of a mile and ultimately indicated the missing subject was on the other side of a fence in an enclosed yard. Another deputy, Tyler Abbitt, scaled the fence and found the child in an exterior restroom. MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police arrested Sean Douglas, 44, of Winthrop, following a traffic stop on State Route 9 on Sunday night. Douglas provided false information and did not have a valid driver's license. Police also determined that Douglas was driving while intoxicated. When they attempted to take Douglas into custody, Douglas resisted arrest and tried to escape on foot. LOUIS - A 23-year-old St. Louis man is in custody after a juvenile was fatally wounded in an accidental shooting over the weekend.According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting took place shortly after 2:40 a.m. on March 19, in the 7800 block of Decatur Drive, located in the Boulevard Heights neighborhood.Police claim the 23-year-old told investigators he was showing off the gun to two juveniles, and gave the firearm to one of the kids. ST. LOUIS - A man died overnight after being shot and crashing his vehicle in the Fountain Park neighborhood of north St. Louis.According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the situation unfolded shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.Police received a Shotspotter alert in the 1100 of Walton Avenue, immediately followed by a call for a crash at Page Boulevard and Euclid Avenue.When officers arrived at the crash scene, they found one vehicle had rolled over, and the driver had seemingly been ejected onto the sidewalk.
