Use the Coliseum as a venue to hold indoor, legal, safe sideshows and charge admission. That would make the streets safer, put money in their pockets, and it could be a lot of fun each weekend year-round.Derek CarneyOaklandHolmes benefitsfrom White privilegeRe: “Elizabeth Holmes’ sentence reduced by almost 2 years” (Page C7, July 12).If you’re looking for a good illustration of “White privilege,” just take a look at the article in the East Bay Times on Wednesday about Elizabeth Holmes very mysteriously getting her sentence reduced by nearly two years after just six weeks behind bars.Do her race (White) and socioeconomics (billionaire) have anythin...Duran Duran to play benefit concert at extremely intimate Bay Area venue

Duran Duran fans have the chance to see the multiplatinum-selling band perform in an extremely intimate small-venue setting next month in the Bay Area. The band — which headlined the SAP Center in San Jose and had a primetime slot at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival back in May — performs at the 500-capacity Guild Theatre in Menlo Park on Aug. 19.The group announced the news via its social media channels on Thursday.“Duran Duran will play a benefit concert for The Cancer Awareness Trust following news that friend and former bandmate Andy Taylor had been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in 2018,” the band tweeted.Given the band’s immense popularity and the limited size of the venue, demand for these ducats could be quite intense.Related ArticlesMusic | Review: Duran Duran kicks off North American tour in epic fashion at BottleRock Music | Duran Duran’s John Taylor talks about band’s deep connection with fans...Kushner, Hicks testified before election interference grand jury

Any indictment from the sprawling probe into the aftermath of the election, efforts to overturn the result or the January 6, 2021, attack at the US Capitol will likely rely, at least in part, on what individuals – from low-level aides to former Vice President Mike Pence – testified to under oath behind closed ...Delonzo Logwood gets 12 years for manslaughter after making plea bargain
